Worship, Holy Communion, Mother’s Day at 9:00 A.M. The Sunday School will present a Mother’s Day Program during the worship service. Sunday School at 10:15 A.M. Sunday, May 17, 7 Sunday of Easter. A Festival of Holy Communion with the Affirmation of Baptism/ Confirmation will be celebrated during the 9:00 A.M. worship service. The young people who will be confirmed are: Gianna Jones and Rachel Kromer. This is the last day for Sunday School until September! WHY I WORSHIP ON SUNDAY I worship because it is not Monday or Saturday - Days of work and recreation. Sabbath is rest and reflection, forgiveness And reconciliation, care and compassion, Community and fellowship. I worship because it is conversation with God and others Silently with the very presence of the almighty Listening and speaking with family, brothers and sisters, to the Spirit in motion with psalms and songs Prayers and petitions, scripture and sacred stories. I worship because it fills my Mondays through Saturdays with Memories of value and worth reminding me Of the sacredness of all human life — The very gift Of God’s creation. I worship because it helps me focus on what is Important, sacred and of ultimate concern reminding Me of who I am — I am God’s presence in the world. I am God’s voice of triumphant among broken people, A voice of compassion to the unloved and forgotten, The neglected and abandoned. Worship grounds me in the presence of God Within the community of fellowship and love. I worship because I can and I must! Come and worship — your presence matters. - Pastor Larry D. Lame
WHAT ABOUT TODAY? As I sit here looking out my window and watching the downpour I thought to myself “What about today?” What will today bring that I didn’t plan for; as I’m sure something will come up. This isn’t uncommon in our lives. Admittedly, we cannot control the unexpected. But there are things we can intentionally do today, here is the short list. 1. Pray — for your family, our Pastor, our congregation, world and community. 2. Ask someone — How is your day? Then truly listen. 3. Repair a broken relationship 4. Let go of a grudge 5. Read your Bible 6. Turn off the Jerry Springer Show. 7. Hug your child and say “I love you” 8. Shake the hand of a friend 9. Visit the sick 10. Visit the imprisoned 11. Donate more time and money 12. Cut down on the caffeine 13. Practice courteous driving 14. Laugh 15. Enjoy the blessings God has given you OH. AND DID I MENTION PRAY EPHESIANS3: 14-19 For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through the spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. May you truly experience God’s presence this day. Steve Bair Council President JUNIOR YOUTH GROUP NEWS 7,363 steps, 3.66 miles and 1 hour and 16 minutes of exercise..... ..that is just a small part of what you missed and the youth, Karen, Jamie and myself did when we hiked the Appalachian Trail on April 18. What one can’t put into writing is the friendship, laughter and awe on all that we saw and learned from nature and one another. We plan to hike the trail again this year and we hope you will join us! Our April meetings saw a large increase in attendance and new faces- I guess the adults aren’t the only ones tired of our long winter! We taught the children how to make “Gods’ Eyes- something many of them never knew how to do! If you remember doing a simple craft growing up, please share it- we love teaching them things “as they were”! A special thanks to Donald Jones, Terry Smith and Jodi Lynn Jones for the crafts and games they have given us- you are awesome and the kids love them! In May we will meet on May 6 and 20 our meeting time is 6-7:30. We are looking to do some yard cleanup on May 16. And, we are looking for our older youth to help out during the May 9 food drive, we need children to ride with adults and pick up the bags at the houses and put them in the trucks. June 6 the youth will have a car wash here at the church from 10-2. So please bring your dirty vehicles over for the best $3 wash ever! Bear Creek Camp Time is drawing near for those interested in attending to register- but we continue to need your financial help. Please consider a donation to the Bear Creek Scholarship fund. You can put your donation in an envelope and simply mark it Bear Creek Camp let’s help our youth have an unforgettable summer experience! CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Just a Reminder and a Thank You for Everyone Who Supports Our Sunday School. With Weis Receipts. There Are Boxes in the Narthex and Parish Hall to Put Your Receipts In. This Program Helps Fund a Majority of Our Sunday School Projects. Our Committee Met on April 16th We Discussed a Number of Topics of Interest. May 10th Is Mother’s Day and the Children Will Be Participating In the 9:00 Worship Service. Please Make Sure Your Child Attends Sunday School to Learn His or Her Part in this Celebration. May 17 Is Confirmation. Both Rachel Kromer and Gianna Jones Will Be Confirmed. There Will Be Refreshments Following the Service to Honor These Two Young Women of the Church. We Will Also Recognize the Second Year Confirmation Students as Well. May 17th Will Also Be the Last Day of Sunday School and We Will Have Crafts and Refreshments on this Day. Also on the 17th There Will Be a Church Service at 6:00pm at Trinity., this Is Ascension Sunday. Vbs Will Be Held from June 22-25. Our Theme this Year Is Camp Discovery. Please Join Us for a Great Time to Share God’s Love with the Community. This Outreach Program Has Always Been Very Successful Because of Your Help and Support. July 19th Will. Be Our Annual Sunday School/church Picnic. It Will Be Held at Bangor Park. Look for More Information in Future Newsletters. Rally Day Will Be Celebrated on September 13th There Will Be Entertainment in the Grove. Watch for More News about this Coming Event. Our next Meeting Is Scheduled for May 6th at 6:30. A First Communion Class will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 9:00 A.M. in the Pastor Lame’s office. The class is for any child or anyone who has not yet received their First Communion. If you would like to have your child receive their First Communion, please fill out a form.
