He Is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed!

The most significant and profound belief in all of Christendom is the story of the resurrection of Jesus.  It is the cornerstone of our lives, our faith and our hope for eternity.  So, we announce with o many others of the faith, "He is Risen.  He is Risen, Indeed."

When we are personally weary, anxious and tired.  When our lives are filled with too many things to do and too many responsibilities.  When our families experience setbacks engage in arguments and their lives are filled with tensions.  When sickness and grief consume our thoughts and feelings.  In these moments, we need to pause and reflect.

When we, as a congregation, feel exhausted from doing so much.  When we plan and carry on so many activities.  When we prepare, set up and clean up after all our eating and sharing events.  When we continually give and give and give and are being asked to give more.  When we are overwhelmed an exhausted.  When we think that we could not possibly do more and are being asked to do more.  In these moments, we need to pause and reflect.

When our country is divided over demeaning rhetoric that hurts and destroys people.  When the politicians and their constituents choose sides to defeat and destroy others.  When our people assume pastures of superiority.  When injustice occurs that is unfair and unequal.  When we see discrimination, poverty and illiteracy  In these moments, we need to pause and reflect.

When the nations of the world engage in war and refuse to negotiate.  When weapons of destruction become the choice of imposing rule  When nations engage in genocide and the impoverishment of God's people.  When leaders impose autocratic power.  In these moments, we need to pause and reflect.

Pause and reflect.  The stone of the grave has been removed.  The barriers of incarceration have vanished.  The powers of death and destruction have been lifted.  Ultimately, your life is in the palm of God's and, surrounded by his strength and power, his love and compassion for you.  Ultimately, our nation and world, its leaders and citizens, are accountable to the almighty, whose power and strengths are greater than any leader or nation

Pause and reflect, Read the words of the Apostle Pal n Romans 8,
"neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any                   powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from          the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Our lives, because of the resurrection, are filled with optimism, with joy, with thanksgiving, with the jubilance of being part of God's Kingdom now and forevermore.

Pause and reflect, "He is Risen. He is Risen, Indeed! - for you!" - Pastor Laine
