Restored from an old organ by Donald Herring ![]() Thank you Don for this beautiful altar! (This is what Don posted on Facebook) "This is our new addition to our summer services. In January Pastor Larry D. Laine approached me to see if I was interested in repurposing an old pipe organ cover used by Trinity years ago and converting it to an altar. It was being stored in a parishioner’s basement for years and she offered it back to Trinity. We stored it in Trinity’s storage shed. Later, the unit got damaged by a tree falling on our storage shed during the first March nor’easter. Pastor Laine and I then moved it to my workshop. Pastor Laine drew a design as I began disassembling the damaged unit. Pastor Laine made countless trips to my workshop sharing ideas and design thoughts. Special thanks to Duane Miller and his paint store for helping select the best finish removers and finishes. Duane and I discussed the project back in February. I’d like to thank Diane Laine for choosing and donating the stain color, Denny Fuls for support and planning ideas and for working in extremely hot weather to help me assemble the base unit. I had help with moving the unit in my workshop and delivering it on Saturday, June 30, to the Church. Thanks to Tom Marino, Fritz Engler,Lee Miller, Drew Rugh, and a special thanks to Donna Fuls for her help choosing the linens and accessories to set up the alter. I’m very proud of the results but it wouldn’t have happened without the help of these unselfish people. And none of this would’ve happened without Brenda Wagner Herring and her loving support. Thank you to all!"
