                      Your Presence Matters

" Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness ad patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues pt on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."   (Colossians 3:12-14 NIV)
"I used to come to church to worship. Now I come to church to see my friends and to worship!"  Some people still come to church simply to worship.  That is wonderful.  But others, and I suspect most of you, come to see your friends and to worship.  That may be a change for you over the last few years.  To see your friends is to engage in fellowship with them and enjoy a cup of coffee over a relaxing conversation.

Yes, we have built an inviting community of believers.  We have built a community of friends, a culture of care - as I refer to think of ourselves.  A culture of care will be known by "compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."  No doubt about it, you are a culture of care.  You want to know and be part of a group of people that love one another.

To love one another is to ask about one another - to inquire about family and friends, joys and sorrows, health and healing, travel and vacations.  To love one another is to engage, embrace an empathize with each other.  To love one another is our highest calling as Christians.  And it is enjoyable and fun!

All of this leads to you being present at our gatherings for worship and fellowship.  You matter and you make a difference in the lives of others.  You will also find meaning as people inquire about you, your thoughts and feelings.  You are welcome.  Come and enjoy and invite a friend to come with you.  Talk about your church with others.  Bring a bulletin home with you nd give it to a friend or relative.  Share what God has given you - a loving community that cares and is known by its "culture of care!'

Peace and Blessings! Pastor Laine
