He could not send us here alone
And leave us to a fate unknown;
Without providing for His own,
The outstretched arms of mother.

God could not watch us night and day
And kneel beside our crib to pray,
Or kiss our little aches away;
And so He sent us mother.

And when our childhood days began,
He simply could not take command.
That's why He placed our tiny hand
Securely into mother's.

     The days of youth slipped quickly by
Life's sun rose higher in the sky.
  Full grown were we, yet ever nigh
    To love us still, was mother.

        And when life's span of years shall end,
         I know that God will gladly send,
          To welcome home her child again,
       That ever-faithful mother.

                                   A Message from Pastor Laine

                 Witness - tell, share and invite!

   "It is not like a Lutheran to witness.  We don't do that!  We don't talk like that! We let the fundamentalist evangelicals do that! They are good at it! They have no problem shouting it out that Jesus Lives!" He said.
   No doubt others do shout it our and we tend to be uncomfortable about declaring our faith, talking about our faith and witnessing to the meaning of Jesus in our lives. However, if it were not for someone in the past talking to us or to our relatives, or to a group of relatives in the past, we would not have this wonderful community of faith.  We might be some social club or hunting club or dinner out club, but we wouldn't be this Christian community of caring and loving people united under the banner of Jesus Christ, died, risen and ascended Lord of all.  So, ow do we once again talk about our faith and recommend our church to others.  Here are some very practical ways of witnessing to others in our neighborhood.
   Recommend our community to others by sharing a bulletin that has a message and a story about the gospel and the artist who created the bulletin art.  Share an event that has happened or will be happening that you feel some excitement in telling about to anyone.  Share an insight or a memorable experience you participated in at the church gathering in worship or fellowship.
   Recommend our church community to others by dropping information in any conversation that relates to what is being said.  For example, if someone is talking about children and the cute things they do, you might share an image of a child marching around the sanctuary to the music of a hymn being sung in worship or a comment they made during the children's sermon.  Your talking about the church becomes an invitation to participate in something meaningful and exciting in your life.
   Recommend our church to others by talking about a meaningful exchange you had with someone at church about their life that was meaningful to you and helped shape you in some way.  No doubt you have had very meaningful exchanges with people at committee meetings.  Share that exchange and tell others how it affected you.  Your experience may be immensely helpful to someone in their journey of faith
   Recommend our church by inviting someone to church or offering to give them a ride to a group meeting for fun and fellowship.  Invite a friend, or an acquaintance, a relative who is searching for some answer or seeking a community for involvement or entertainment.  Be attentive to people and what they are going through.  There may be an answer in the life and activity of this church community.
   These are all forms of witnessing and sharing the good news of the gospel that you have experienced in the life and faith of this church family.

Peace and blessings, Pastor Laine
